So, what is Phantom Dust? At first glance, it looks like a third-person shooter or Japanese role-playing game, but at its core, Phantom Dust is a card game, more akin to Magic the Gathering or Hearthstone than anything else. Often described as ahead of its time, Phantom Dust lives up to its reputation in many areas, but it feels understandably dated in others. This past week, with very little fanfare, Microsoft made good on its word, releasing the remaster on Xbox One and Windows 10. To increase your maximum aura in battle you need to map and use Aura Particle abilities as they appear.After the franchise’s reboot was put on indefinite hiatus, Microsoft announced last year that it was putting out a remaster of classic Xbox title Phantom Dust. It will then begin to automatically recharge until it reaches it maximum limit. To use an ability, you must have at least the required aura displayed to use it which will deplete your current aura. When you create your own arsenals, it’s generally best to try to have between 10 and 15 slots occupied by Aura Particles ensuring that you get them often during battle and rely less on RNG to hopefully deal them out.Įach of the game's abilities have an aura cost that is displayed both in the arsenal creation menu and in battle. For the first two chapters, you don’t really need to worry about it too much as you will be give as much aura as you need to complete each mission. In the beginning of chapter three, you will only have access to two arsenals each allowing two schools to be used (one arsenal must be purchased from the in game store using in game currency). From chapter three onward, you are given complete control of your ability decks, called Arsenals.Īrsenals can contain up to 30 different abilities and have a limit to how many different schools can be used in one deck ranging between 1 and 3 with three being the maximum. Besides this, you will also be paying attention to the display in the top-left corner to be aware of the types of abilities the enemy may have at their disposal.įor the first two chapters the abilities that are available for each mission are decided for you and cannot be altered. During the battle you need to pick up abilities which always appear at your character's spawn point and use them strategically to win the battle.
